Metalusa Industrial, the holding company of the «Metalusa Group», has incorporated a new subsidiary company, Metalusa CI, based in Abidjan, the capital of the Ivory Coast.
The establishment of the new subsidiary in Abidjan was sponsored by the Portuguese Ambassador to the Ivory Coast, Ms. Maria da Conceição de Sousa Pilar, and the event ended with a very pleasant dinner.
The Ivory Coast subsidiary joins the other companies in the Metalusa Group: Metalusa Portugal, Metalusa España, Metalusa France, Metalusa UK, Metalusa Angola, Metalusa Mozambique, Metalusa Maroc and Metalusa Chile.

METALUSA’S STRATEGY FOR THE IVORY COAST
To understand why the Metalusa Group made this investment in the Ivory Coast, we interviewed Alberto Cravo, the Chairman of the Holding (Patrilar SGPS, SA).

Q: What is the reason for investing in the Ivory Coast?
AC: Metalusa found an opportunity to respond to the growing demand in this African market. From that moment on, the response followed the usual growth pattern within the group.
Q: And what is that response?
AC: The control of the companies of the «Metalusa Group» is held by the holding company, Metalusa Industrial, SA. The subsidiaries that we created in foreign markets have their own legal personality and separate assets from the holding company, as is the case now in the Ivory Coast. However, in contrast to all other subsidiaries, in the Ivory Coast we have established a partnership with a local partner.
Q: And that happened for any special reason?
AC: Our local partner is well established in the market and develops its activity in sectors that are economically intertwined with what we do. There was an opportunity and a will to grow together, we carried out a market study and, as the conditions to proceed with the investment were met, we did so.
Q: Will Metalusa Côte D’Ivoire compete in the Ivory Coast market in the same way as in other markets? This is a relevant question due to the fact that you now have a local partner.
AC: Metalusa’s competitive matrix remains the same. The Group has the human resources necessary to respond to any project involving large engineering works. We can develop the project from scratch or receive a project already designed for which execution we present an innovative and efficient solution in the specialties of scaffolding, formwork, shoring and other special engineering structures. Then, we offer our clients the necessary equipment on a sale or rental basis. In addition, we provide our local engineering services to respond to the customer's needs in terms of site preparation, stability calculations, monitoring of site workings and all other specialties that are requested.

TWO NEW CONCLUDED AND SOLD MODIKO® DETACHED HOUSESOur partner PATRILAR Imobiliária, Lda. recently completed the sale of the 1st phase of the “Villas do Braçal” development.
Soon the second phase of construction will be initiated.

Another MODIKO® work successfully completed. The house was built in cooperation with partner Medidas Práticas and is located in Recezinhos – Penafiel.
The house took 4 months to be built and has a gross floor area of 102,40 m2.

PATRILAR GROUP EXPECTS EARNINGS OF 30 MILLION EUROS IN SALES IN 2020Patrilar Group’s total turnover in 2017 reached €22 million in the four business areas as presented by CFO Manuel Coelho at the annual staff meeting.
As reported by the CFO, the equipment area contributes to the largest share in sales. In his words, “the investment made in the renewal of production equipment and the consolidation of the international subsidiaries has been completed and we will enter into a consolidation phase of management strategies for each business area where we believe to grow progressively in the coming years in order to achieve a turnover of €25 million in 2018 and €30 million in 2020”.
MODIKO® RESIDENCE IN AVEIROYet another MODIKO® residence which has been successfully concluded. It was built in Aveiro in conjunction with our partner Téketo.
The residence features an area of 168 m2 and is of the T3+1 type.

Together with our partner, Téketo, a three-bedroom housing project was built in Águeda, with a total area of 158.15 m².
The project was custom-designed in accordance with the client’s ideas and details.
Custom designing is one of the many advantages of building houses with the MODIKO® system.
Upon delivery of the commissioned project, the client was very happy with the way MODIKO® managed the entire project.
MODIKO® HOUSING IN BARCOUÇO, IN MUNICIPALITY OF MEALHADAAnother MODIKO® housing project has been completed. It was built in Barcouço, in municipality of Mealhada by our partner PES – Proj. Const., LDA.
The house has 2 bedrooms and 113 sq.mt.

OPEN HOUSE IN VILA DO CONDEAnother MODIKO® project has been concluded in Vila do Conde by our partner from Medidas Práticas in the Porto region.
It culminated in an Open House held on 16 September, where the doors were opened to anyone interested in getting to know this innovative system from the viewpoint of both technology and construction.
The residence is of the T3+1 type and features the following areas: House – 158.93 m²; Palas – 40.68 m²; Garage – 29.76 m².
“OPEN HOUSE” EVENT AT VILA NOVA DE FAMALICÃOMODIKO® held a “Open House” event at Vila Nova de Famalicão on August 12th, 2017. The House was built by our partner João e Augusto, LDA.
Existing MODIKO® customers and potential new customers enthusiastically attended the event and everyone considered it a great success. This event gave all the attendees the opportunity to become more acquainted with the details of our construction system.
